Interested in making your own zesty ginger ale? Making a zesty ginger ale you start making your own ginger syrup. Ginger syrup can be added to a glass of cold seltzer water and it is absolutely delicious! Once the syrup is made (10 minutes of preparation) making homemade ginger ale takes only a few minutes.
Using a microplane zester (or if you don't have one,your most fine food grater) zest the ginger, carefully keeping the juice and pulp.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, gently boil the water and add the sugar, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
Add the ginger, cover the pan and remove from heat, letting the ginger steep for about 45 minutes.
Strain the syrup to remove the ginger pieces and let cool.
For one drink, fill a tall glass with ice, add 2-3 tablespoons of Ginger Syrup and top with carbonated seltzer water, or add it to a 12 ounce bottle of carbonated water you made with a FiZZ-GiZ product. Add some lemon juice for a citrus kick!
